We hope you all are doing well and enjoying the beautiful sunshine!
Our Board Members met, and we have determined based off the Governor's guidelines, that we can resume practice! While there will be changes to how we practice, it will be great to see the kids on the field and gaining some normalcy in their lives. We will begin practice on May 11th, 5:30-7:00 at O.K. Ward Park. We will not have any games or travel until Phase 4 of the reopening, which is set at June 13th, but we hope to offer scrimmages amongst each of the teams and maybe some challenges from different levels of our club. High School loves to take on the 7-8 Grade team and the 5-6 Grade love to challenge the 7-8 Grade, it is a great way for them to keep challenged and busy while also learning what they need to work on or what they are really good at. We will extend our season to the last day of July and are offering our K-2 Program a June-July Season.
Please discuss the importance of being healthy and keeping safe distancing with your children, our Son is 14 and is clueless, this is a great opportunity to open up the communication lines with your kids. We really want to offer this sport to the kids and fully believe that we can maintain distancing while working on stick skills and passing. There are a lot of drills that do not require close contact and we know the kids will only get better. We do ask that you limit carpooling, if you would like to stay and watch practice please do so at a distance, ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN WATER; sharing drinks is absolutely not an option. Please clean your players gear nightly, wipe off their helmet and face guard, spray gloves, etc. As always, if your child isn't feeling well, keep them home until they are 100% healthy.
We haven't forgotten our offer to refund the High School players, Sports Engine has a form that Len will be filling out and they are going to be in contact with him in the next few days to assist. Refunds might be a little slow, please be patient with us, we're working on it! We will be applying those refunds to the card used for registration, or we will be writing checks, either way we will fulfill our promise! If you feel that it is best for your family to opt-out of the season, we completely understand. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can return funds to you, this is a challenging time and we encourage you to revisit the sport again next season, we're coming back better than ever!
HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS: We are so appreciative of all that you did to become ref's and help whenever we needed it, AND WE NEED YOU NOW! Come help Coach, come help paint fields, be the mentor's to the Youth teams that we know you can be! And maybe get in on a good scrimmage and teach them how to play! This is a family sport and you all are the ones those kids look up to, we hope the following generations see what you have done for the club and aspire to take those steps too so we can keep this wonderful sport going for many years ahead.
The Team Store is complete, and we will be picking it up sometime this week so we can hand it out next week. Please support local!!! Alston's does all of our gear and they are Husband and Wife that have been completely closed down for this duration. If you need something made, consider them! We also have a Player whose Parents operate Del Monte Meats, they have always graciously donated for our big tournament, who doesn't need a good steak? There are so many Mom's that are hairstylist's, they are going to need our support! We unfortunately had to close the doors to our dog kennel and it hurt us tremendously, we are praying for the locals to come out and support us, as all local small businesses are! Thank you to all of those Parents that are on the frontlines, we are so appreciative of you taking on the challenge and dealing with all of this while we were all staying home.
With all that being said, IT'S TIME!! Dust off the gear, get the sticks in their hands, and lets get on the field!!!
Can't wait to see you all!!
